USB-C hub A8352 intermittently not recognising Apple keyboard

I have purchased an A8352 USB-C hub for use with my 15" 2018 Macbook Pro but I have a frustrating issue with it. More often than not my Apple USC-A keyboard is not recognised. I’m running Mojave 10.14.6.

I’ve tried restarting, changing ports on the hub, changing ports on the Macbook, SMC reset and a PRAM reset. I’ve found others with a similar issue, but no fix so far.

Any suggestions?

I’ve also tried another Apple keyboard with the same result.
