Product Review: PowerExpand 7-in-2 USB-C Media Hub

The one hub that does it all! This gadget is the one hub you need if you have a MacBook that limits you from plugging in multiple things.

The amazing MacBook Pro has only two USB C ports on the side of the laptop, which is great for the average user of just charging. But for a user like me that uses multiple things to get the job done, this is extremely helpful!

The only problem I had with the hub is that it would not work when I had the case on my computer, even though the case was pretty thin. Not such a big deal because I only do work from home so I do not have to worry about my laptop getting scratched.

The ports on the other side includes: 1 Thunderbolt USB-C port, 1 USB-C data port, 2 USB-A ports, 1 HDMI port, 1 SD card slot, and 1 microSD card slot.

My workflow usually involves me using a hub or adapters to connect different things to my computer. It can get irritating unplugging or looking for all of the things I need to use. It is incredibly helpful to just have one device that I can use to plug in everything I need.

Nice review and pics! I like the sleek design and the fact that you can leave all the devices plugged in when you need to take your laptop with you.

Here are a few questions:

  • How many devices did you tried plugging in at the same time?
  • In heavy use - like copying files to and from SD cards, charging, with a monitor and a few USB devices all plugged at the same time, did you notice any temperature increase?
  • Can the second USB-C port - the one not used for charging - be used to drive an external monitor?

Only the Thunderbolt port can be used for external monitor and from the pic , looks like it was used for pass-through charging
