OK this gets a little complicated. I have the following Anker products:
PowerCore 1000 PD Battery Bank (with supplied black CtoC cable) - Purchased March this year
PowerLine+ CtoC 3ft Red - Purchased March this year
PowerLine+ CtoUSB3 3ft Red - Purchased March this year
PowerLine+ CtoC 6ft Red - Purchased November this year
PowerPort PD 2 (have 2 of them) - Purchased November this year
PowerPort C1 Charger - Got as gift around April
My Problem is this:
The Battery bank will recharge fine using the PowerPort C1 with all the CtoC cables I have including the stock cable that shipped with the PowerCore
If I use my new PowerPort PD 2 (same issue shows with the 2nd one) the PowerCore will only charge with the new 6ft PowerLine+ CtoC cable, if I use the PowerCores supplied black CtoC cable or the 3ft PowerLine+ (purchased in March) the PowerCore looks like its going to start charging the LEDS come on and the end one starts to flash like its charging but then they all go out and the cycle repeats, all on for a second or two then all off, over and over so on and so on. The battery does not charge.
The PowrCore will charge fine with a CtoUSB3 cable running with a PowerPort 2 Elite.
The PowerCore charges my nintendo Switch fine with all three cables, it even powers my Raspberry Pi from it again with all my CtoC cables, no issues.
So Im not sure if the battery bank is bad, the two cables are bad or the 2 chargers are bad. Im guessing the battery as its unlikely I have two bad cable and chargers. Unless the cables are not made correctly in some way, the 6ft is almost brand new so perhaps its from a newer batch, but then again why is the 6ft fine
The SN are:
PowerCore 1000 PD - AFYQJS0909600596
(The Supplied Stock Black CtoC again does not work with PD 2 but fine with C 1)
PowerLine+ CtoC - GD201932 This one works 6ft
PowerLine+ CtoC - GD201851 This one does not work for recharging PowreCore with PD 2, 3ft
PowerLine+ CtoUSB3 - M5832185 Works
PowerPort PD 2 - AFCQ4M09353100984
PowerPort PD 2 - AFCQ4M09353101028
PowerPort C 1 - AZ7Q5W0903600005
PowerPort 2 Elite - FY7395Z4
Again when I say does not work its only when trying to charge up the PowerCore, if Im using any combination of the items to charge say the Switch they all work. Perhaps it is the battery!!!
So Im not sure of the issue, do you have any ideas which part of the chain is not working correctly?
I don’t have access to another PD PowreCore to test with
Same behaviour when trying to power a Raspberry Pi direct from the PowerPort PD 2, it will work with 6ft not with both 3ft cables. So could it be the PowerPort PD 2 or cables, both the PowerPort do the same. To recap the PowerCore will power the Raspberry Pi with all cables. So looking maybe like the PowerPort maybe…
Today Im going to try and borrow a MacBook Pro USB-C charger to see if the cables do the same behaviour.
The MacBook Pro Charger charged the PowerCore with all the cables, using the MacBook Pro CtoC cable with the PowerPort did not charge the PowerCore. So Im wondering if PowerPort is some way
Contacted support, it seems they also think the PowerCore is the issue and are sending me a replacement, but they no longer have this model and sending me the PowerCore 10000 PD Redux model instead, not sure I’m 100% happy with that as it has less combined output than my model. I do sometimes charge two devices at once with the battery bank. But if it actually works fine with my new PowerPort PD 2 then that good I guess.
Anker support are sending me out a PowerCore 10000 PD Redux instead as they say they no longer have the version I have, will report back if all the issues clear up when hat arrives.
