I’ll start by saying this is and isn’t a joke post. I understand this type of device needs headroom. But 14w extra? It gives out 12w total between the USB, and 10w to the wireless portion, but has a 36w power brick. Where’s that other 14w hiding?

Please note that in regards to efficiency, the DC wall adapter burns 20-25% of their power when they are charging other devices. So the DC wall adapter has 36W power, but the power for charing of the wireless stand is 27W-28W. Moreove, to protect other devices, the wireless stand is designed with buffer pool for the power headroom.

It’s the opposite of what you think.
Power doesn’t go anywhere.
Electrical efficiency is worse as wires heat, so when you over provision power, you dont waste anything and indeed you waste less overall.
So any notion you have someone about engineer a lower peak power system is asking for such a system to be hotter, so waste more energy and so you’re causing actual power taken to increase.
Hotter wires also fatigue faster , so over provision results in longer term reliability and so is a sign of quality.
Also wireless is less efficient than wired. Wireless means photons which are massless elementary uncharged particles which tend to spread out in all directions only some of which get used for intended purpose. Good wireless chargers attempt to focus the photons to travel in the direction of the phone but many just wizz past. Wired uses massive electron elementary charged particles which direct based on a voltage difference so are more efficient way to transmit energy.
So if you’re remotely bothered about efficiency then minimise wireless use.
The reason to use wireless is nearly all convenience and to a lesser degree reliability as less port use.
