What features are you waiting for?
Im running Android Pie and honestly there aren’t that much info on Android Q features yet to make me excited. But what features are you waiting for OP?
So I’ll offer the counter argument.
Android is already good enough and needs now little development.
Android was thinking at some stage a few years ago of becoming a desktop OS. Google make the Nexus 10 > 6 years ago, and then the Pixel C > 3 years ago, but then those products were not that successful.
ChromeOS has become far more successful, Chromebooks are low-end devices which are often good enough most of the time. ChromeOS can run Android apps in case something is not natively working in ChromeOS (e.g Netflix downloading).
Where Android needs to focus is in minimalism, smaller, lighter, faster, into Wearables.
The challenge of cellphones being mini computers, Android has won that,
While Android has won the smaller device, Apple has won the larger tablet space.
desktops are in decline
So the Internet of Things (IoT) and smaller, more portable power efficiency is where the next main innovation opportunities exist.
I’m leaving my house next week with 4 computers:
- Windows laptop for corporate stuff
- Android 10.8" tablet for all the things media and not work
- Android 6" phone for what needs to fit in my pocket / hand
- Android smartwatch for glancing at stuff with the 3 computers not on my wrist.
Do you own a smartwatch? I think they should focus on improving the battery life on them and also giving it more memory
All this stuff packing in your tiny rucksack again?
But you need all your chargers and cables as well!
Android Q hmmm, not much of an android user with the exception of my android based Amazon tablet. Don’t really care for it anyways. LONG LIVE iOS!!! just kidding!
All those OS are UNIX-based!
So I like LINUX which is the “purest” derivate:wink:.
I have Android pie 1.1 on my phone, along with Samsung’s new ONE UI
Personally moving from Android Oreo I can’t say I’ve noticed many or any changes. So what Q will bring, I don’t know.
Like the prof said, Android is basically there now… Let’s rest and let apple catch up! lol
Yeah! Apple will take about 2 more years to catch up to the current offerings from Android… I’m still a fan of Apple though…
The QR wifi sharing and custom colors for the quick settings menu is pretty cool
Android needs more personalization options
Have a S9 Plus with Android pie and One UI as well. LOVE PIE AND ONE UI
Yes I do.
This is the area where Google needs to invest its greater effort on tuning for battery life and performance.
Yeah and I’ll try to take photos, I’m visiting UK for 2 weeks and it varies between 30F when its dry and 70F when it raining this time of year, so waterproofs and a down vest. It’s about 10Lbs of gadgets, laptop, tablet, phone, chargers, cables.
QR wifi sharing sounds good and you can use swift installer to get custom color for the quick settings. And yes ONE UI rocks
Where about? And why
Android needs better battery optimization and performance improvements . Only two areas that more focus is needed
